“The heart of man deviseth his way, And Jehovah establisheth his step.” Proverbs 16:9
I have the opportunity to run for county commissioner for my district.
There are parts of the job that I could do well. However, if I am honest with myself, there is a lot of the job that frankly is not my strong suit. I am more scholar than mover and shaker. I prefer hours of solitude to listening to complaints (though I do love to solve problems). My father told me today “No one ever calls you to say ‘Have a nice day'”. I am not one of those charismatic sorts who is quick on her feet.
And don’t get me started on the election process.
I see my path as one of reflection and writing, with acts of service. The Lord’s spackle to fill in various gaps in lives in my sphere.
However, I also can see that this could be something the Lord is arranging for me to get out into the messy human world and do His work with my messy human hands. He establishes governments, including small county ones. If He sends me, I will go.
It will be an interesting week to see what He says.
