Let’s go one step farther.  If we know that God is the author of everything good, then who is the author of everything evil?

Well, who is the one who wants to see us succeed?  God!  Therefore, who is the one who wants to see us in pain?  You guessed it.  The devil wants us in torment.  The devil wants us to doubt because then we are ineffective.  You can’t be all that God wants you to be if you don’t trust Him.  You cannot lead people to the Lord if you are too afraid to leave your house.

How can you show hospitality to those who need it, if you are too afraid to have people over?  How can you show people peace and joy when you look ridiculous by constantly touching light poles?  How can you serve others when other people have to make allowances for your “issues”?  You can’t, and the devil knows it.  He has found that you are weak in your mind and emotions and therefore he concentrates his attacks there to keep you in bondage and so others cannot be led out of bondage by you.  Paul said in Ephesians 6:12 “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” NIV

Then in 6:16 Paul says to “take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.”.  Where do you think those arrows are pointed?  Everywhere, but if you have anxiety disorders, then a great many of those arrows are pointed into your mind.  So what do we do?  We take up the shield of faith.

Let’s face it, we who have fear that haunts us like we do are pretty short on faith.  You cannot have doubt and faith at the same time—they are polar opposites.  So if we doubt, we aren’t having faith and if we have faith, we will not doubt.  It does not matter what your doubt or fear is.  It does not matter if you are afraid of death, contamination, losing something, hurting someone, anything.  Fear is fear, and you have to stop it.  And you can!  WITH the power of God.
