Hebrews 4:14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are–yet was without sin. 16 Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. NIV

Think about that for a moment.  Jesus knows exactly what you are going through.  He was tempted to be afraid too.  He chose not to indulge, but He knows how hard it is to resist.

Now, you know how you act when you are sympathetic to someone who has struggled? You are kind, concerned, understanding.  You encourage them, offer to help them.  You affirm that they must strive to do better, but you are not harsh or unkind.

That is the Lord Jesus.  He knows your struggles.  He knows that you are in error.  He affirms that you need to change your behaviors, however, He also provides mercy and grace to you so that you can change.

Don’t fight that or hide from Him.  Spend time right now thinking “Jesus knows.  He knows exactly how I am feeling.  Not only that, but He felt the same way!  He managed not to sin, and I am sinning, but He knows the temptation.  He is looking at me kindly, in love and mercy, right this second.  He is not looking at me in anger. He is not listening in judgment.  He is not sitting there, stony faced and stern, while I am afraid and trembling before Him.  He is kind and merciful.  He is offering me grace right this very second.”.

I’ll be honest, sometimes it is much harder for me to accept the kindness of the Lord than the commands of Him.  I understand punishment.  It is grace I have a really hard time with.

Today, right now, let’s consider His mercy together, knowing we can come to His throne boldly.  Not cowering , but boldly, and He will give us grace and mercy.

You are not alone.  He knows exactly how you feel..
