I bet you are weary.  I bet you are just so tired.  Emotional and physical exhaustion follow your days.  You feel like you are in a battle zone where there is never any rest.  Every day there is danger, every day your heart pounds, your muscles are tight.  You are tired of feeling frightened all the time, of everything, even normal things, being “dangerous”.

It is just too much.  It is too much to have adrenaline pumping 24/7.  It is too much to never relax.  Our minds, bodies, hearts, and souls were not meant for this.  It is like putting a car on blocks and revving the engine all day every day…eventually the engine just wears out, starts sputtering.

But He promises to give you rest.  He promises you a light and easy burden, not the one you are living with now.  He begs you “Come to Me, I will give you rest.”.  He tells you “It is easy with Me.  My burden is not heavy!”.

So why, if you have Jesus, do you not have rest for your soul?  Because you have not taken His yoke upon you, you are still holding on to your yoke.  Giving up your yoke requires…giving up your yoke!  It means that you have to give up what you are used to, and sometimes we just do not quite trust that the Lord will not let us fall.

He is merciful and kind to us, though.  Our lack of faith is because we are weak, not because He is.  WE are not faithful.  He is always faithful.

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. ASV

He wants you to rest.  He does not want you to tear up your body and soul with fears of things that He has overcome.  His will for you is not to live your life in fear, but in power and rest.  But you have to trust that He is not lying, that His promise is accurate, valid, and for you.  He is trustworthy, He has earned your trust.  Trust Him and take this promise upon you.  He wants you to do this right this second.
