1 Cor 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I felt as a child, I thought as a child: now that I am become a man, I have put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know fully even as also I was fully known. ASV
All of us have an imperfect picture of God. We tend to see Him as our earthly father (for good or ill) or like the guy in the wizard of OZ—standing behind some curtain, watching from afar.
We cannot possibly know the depth of the Lord. He is too great to ponder with our childish human minds. We understand in part, we know in part.
However, we are fully known. He can understand us. He knows us….in fact He knows more about us than we know about us! He knows what we are going to do in the future. He knows the inmost parts of our hearts—things we might not even know about ourselves. He knows all, we know part.
Psalm 139:13 For thou didst form my inward parts: Thou didst cover me in my mother’s womb. 14 I will give thanks unto thee; For I am fearfully and wonderfully made: Wonderful are thy works; And that my soul knoweth right well. 15 My frame was not hidden from thee, When I was made in secret, [And] curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Thine eyes did see mine unformed substance; And in thy book they were all written, [Even] the days that were ordained [for me], When as yet there was none of them. Why is it important to understand that we do not understand? Because we have set ourselves up as experts in our own lives, in what we need to do, in what we are capable of…but we are wrong!
We have arranged our lives around our fears because we assume that we cannot overcome them. Again, we are wrong!
We have a very limited understanding of what the Lord can do, how He has overcome everything, and that our healing, actual healing, is available to us right now.
God knows exactly what you are capable of: Nothing without Him but everything with Him. He knows that right now you are living far below what you are capable of. He knows that there is so much more that He has put in you. He knows that His Son’s grace is sufficient for you. You do not know that right now. You might know that in your head, but you do not know that deep down. It is a hard lesson for all people, and we who fear find it almost impossible. However, as the Lord has said in His Word, Nothing Is Impossible For Him.
Matt 17:20 And he saith unto them, Because of your little faith: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. ASV
Luke 18: 27 But he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God. ASV
He knows you can do more through Him. He knows that more than you do. So when you go through these lessons, understand that He knows you can do this. He knows you can. Why? Because 1) He made you and 2) He knows what His Son can do. Jesus’ grace will cover what we are humanly not capable of.
Jesus’ grace allowed Peter to walk on water. Jesus’ grace allowed Paul to delight in his infirmity, after being so tormented by it that he begged Jesus three times to take it away. Jesus’ grace allowed Stephen to glorify the Lord even as he was dying from the stones being hurled at him. Jesus’ grace covered Martha’s doubt when her brother was dead.
You see, you can rest in Him. He knows more than you do. His grace is sufficient for you. Don’t stress about this walk towards healing. Do not fret over what you are going to be asked to accomplish. The Lord knows you, knows what you are capable of through Jesus and what Jesus is capable of. All you need to do is to trust Him. All you need to do is to turn this over to Him and then obey His Word. He is faithful and will not let you down. Do not allow your doubts to overcome you. Just trust Him. Sit back and watch Him work in your life. He will do it.
Hebrews 4 :11-16 11 Let us therefore give diligence to enter into that rest, that no man fall after the same example of disobedience. 12 For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 And there is no creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and laid open before the eyes of him with whom we have to do. 14 Having then a great high priest, who hath passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we have not a high priest that cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but one that hath been in all points tempted like as [we are, yet] without sin. 16 Let us therefore draw near with boldness unto the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace to help [us] in time of need.
